| Important information on recent email fraud attempts
Manulife Bank has become aware that there have been some recent attempts at fraudulent activity using our name and what appears to be, but is not, our website.
Please note -- Manulife Bank will never ask clients or prospective clients to provide us with personal or confidential information through email.
In recent Phishing attempts, people received an email that included a link to a web page that looked like the Manulife Bank login page and asked them to provide their account number and password. The email is fraudulent. If you receive an email like this:
- DO NOT respond to the email in any way.
- File a complaint on Recol.ca (a service administered by the RCMP).
- Forward the email to manulife_bank@manulife.com.
- Delete the email from your computer.
"Phishing" (also known as "brand spoofing") is the creation of email messages and web pages that are replicas of existing, legitimate sites and businesses. In this case, the name Manulife Bank has been used to try to trick users into submitting personal, financial or password data. The goal of the criminal is to lead email users into believing that a request for personal information is coming from Manulife Bank so they can commit fraud.
