What if I die or the policy expires and I never needed Lifecheque?

Lifecheque offers three Return of Premium riders. Here’s how they work:

Return of Premium with Early Surrender OptionReturn of Premium at ExpiryReturn of Premium on Death
What is it?
The Return of Premium with Early Surrender Option rider returns 100% of eligible premiums paid on or after the 15th coverage anniversary if you have never claimed a covered condition benefit under the associated Lifecheque coverage.*

This rider must be chosen when the Lifecheque coverage is issued.

For a coverage type change, you can add the Return of Premium with Early Surrender Option rider in effect at the same time of the change.
The Return of Premium at Expiry rider returns 100% of eligible premiums paid at expiry of the coverage if you have never claimed a covered condition benefit under the associated Lifecheque coverage.*

This rider must be chosen when the Lifecheque coverage is issued.

For a coverage type change, you can add the Return of Premium at Expiry rider in effect at the time of the change.
The Return of Premium on Death rider returns 100% of eligible premiums paid upon your death if you have never claimed a covered condition benefit.*

This rider must be chosen when the Lifecheque coverage is issued.
What plans have this Rider?
Level and Permanent Lifecheque plans.Primary and Level Lifecheque plans. All Lifecheque plans.
When can the benefit be exercised?
For Level coverage, the benefit can be exercised at any time on or after the 15th coverage anniversary, but prior to expiry.

For Permanent coverage, the benefit can be exercised any time on or after the 15th coverage anniversary but prior to the insured person’s 100th birthday (at which time the Age 100 benefit applies).

Requesting the benefit will cause your coverage to be terminated.
The benefit is available only at expiry of the Lifecheque coverage. This benefit is available only on death.
Note: If the Return of Premium benefit amount (not including the policy fee or premiums paid for any Waiver of Premium on Disability rider) equals the coverage limit, we no longer require premiums for the Return of Premium rider.

* All eligible premiums paid for coverage will be refunded to a maximum of the coverage amount of the Lifecheque coverage minus any money already paid or payable for the Recovery Benefit and/or Care Benefit.

Any Lifecheque coverage amount decrease will result in a reduction to the Return of Premium benefit for that coverage.

Under certain circumstances, some of the premiums paid may not be returned. See the Lifecheque contract for more details.
